Create and manage polls & quizzes

Polls and quizzes allow administrators (or users with relevant permissions) to collect feedback, assess knowledge, and drive participation. They are beneficial because they support engagement initiatives, generate valuable insights, and create interactive programme content.

Polls and quizzes include a sub-type dropdown during setup. This allows an administrator (or users with relevant permissions) to define the purpose of the poll or quiz.

One of the available uses is to link a poll or quiz to a challenge. When linked to a challenge, completing the poll or quiz can automatically complete the challenge and issue points to the user.

This removes manual approvals, automates rewards, and simplifies participation campaigns.

Where to find Polls & quizzes admin tools

Click on the administrator settings (gear) icon , navigate to Communications >Polls & quizzes.

The Polls & quizzes overview page lists all current, planned and past polls and quizzes. 

1. Entries can be filtered by type, status, and/or enabled status. Click on ‘apply’, ‘clear’, and ‘cancel’ respectively to apply or clear filters or simply cancel filtering instructions.
2. Use the search function if you know the name of the quiz or poll that you are after.
3. Hover over for the poll or quiz you’d like to manage.
   1. You have the option to see ‘results’,
   2. You can ‘delete’ the poll or quiz,
   3. You can ‘edit’ and modify the poll or quiz in question.
   4. Use the checkboxes to perform bulk actions to delete or update end dates

Creating a new poll

Click on the ‘Add new’ button to create a new poll.

1. Select the type: either poll or quiz, in this case select ‘Poll’.
   1. Select a sub-type from the drop-down
      • Standard
      • Challenge - allows, and can only be completed by linking to a challenge  
   2. Provide a name for the poll.
   3. Provide a description for the poll to provide context.
   4. Determine the start date and the end date for your poll (if sub-type: Challenge selected, Challenge dates apply).
   5. Select the poll participants, either individually or as teams, departments, or tags (if sub-type: Challenge selected, Challenge audience applies).
   6. Decide whether the results will be displayed at the end of the poll by setting the toggle switch.
2. Add questions. Polls only have one question, and each question has multiple answers. There are no ‘wrong’ answers in a poll.
   1. Click ‘Add question’ to add questions to your poll.
   2. Click on the drop-down tab to insert an answer. Repeat up to five times; a poll question can have up to five optional answers. 
3. Once you have completed loading the question and answers, click on the ‘Publish’ icon. This will post the new poll to the Polls & quizzes page, and you and your participants will be notified.

Creating a quiz

Click on the ‘Add new’ button to create a new quiz.

1. Select the type: either poll or quiz, in this case select ‘Quiz’.
   1. Select a sub-type from the drop-down
      • Standard
      • Challenge - allows, and can only be completed by linking to a challenge  
   2. Provide a name for the quiz.
   3. Provide a description for the quiz to provide context and what is expected.
   4. Determine the start date and the end date for your quiz (if sub-type: Challenge selected, Challenge dates apply).
   5. Select the quiz participants, either individually or as teams/departments/tags (if sub-type: Challenge selected, Challenge audience applies).
2. Decide whether the results will be displayed at the end of the poll by setting the toggle switch.
3. Add questions to your quiz by clicking on ‘Add questions’. 
   1. You may pose a maximum of 10 questions per quiz. 
   2. Each quiz question can have up to five optional answers
   3. Each quiz question has only one right answer.
4. Once you have completed loading the questions and answer, click on the ‘Publish’ icon. This will post the new quiz to the Polls & quizzes page, and you and your participants will be notified.

Important Notes

• The sub-type helps define how the poll or quiz may be used.
• If the poll or quiz will be linked to a challenge, ensure the correct sub-type is selected.
• The poll or quiz must be created before it can be linked to a challenge.
